Being A Junk Removal Business Entrepreneur Offers Exceptional Benefits!

By Carlos Cifuentes

While the removal of other people's discarded items might not be right for every budding entrepreneur, there is great opportunity to make a very good living collecting other people's unwanted things. As a junk removal business entrepreneur, your business will be divided into two parts. The first part is soliciting homeowners and businesses that need help clearing out unwanted items from their home or place of business. The second part is sorting through the discarded items and reselling things that still have some value.

Finding the junk is something that is easily done. All we have to do is pay attention when we are out driving around. Most people have something in their yard that they would like to dispose of that they do not have the means to haul it away. We can be picking up anything from an old refrigerator to a broken coffee table. Sometimes, if a family member passes away, the family will call a junk removal business entrepreneur to come and get all of the items.

There are many different types of "junk" that you might be called upon to remove. There is construction debris that is basically worthless and there are household items like old carpets and worn mattresses that are also of no value. Those items need to go to the dump.

Many other items have metallic content and might be saleable due to this content. Depending on the specific weight, construction, and relative metallic content purity, such discards can be worth substantial sums.

More desirable junk is usually obtained from jobs where major residential or commercial cleaning efforts have recently been completed. Quite often, the customer has just purchased replacement appliances or furnishings and want to be rid of the old garbage. Such throwaways might have decent residual value if they are in decent or repairable condition.

The bulk of a junk removal business entrepreneur's profit comes from this activity. Organization and the ability to distinguish "bad" junk from "good" junk are the keys to success. An effective means of disposing of items with residual value must also be developed. In addition to selling items for their wholesale scrap metal value, you might also be able to market some things like paintings, toys, furnishings, or clothing to individuals for practical or intrinsic value.

You never know what people want to throw away. In some high-priced neighborhoods, some homeowners get rid of perfectly good items that might be better than the things you have in your own home. With a good eye and careful attention to detail, you can make the junk removal business a very profitable venture.
